Accounting Specialist (Temp-to-Hire)

Location: Irvine, CA

Employment Type: Temp-to-Hire (3 months)

Work Schedule:

  • Temporary Period: Approximately 30 hours per week
  • Upon Direct Hire: Full-time (40 hours per week) with comprehensive company benefits
  • Hybrid work (3 days office/week)

Pay Rate: $27-28/hour

Position Overview

A well-established international food manufacturing company is seeking an Accounting Specialist to join its Finance & Accounting team.

This position is responsible for reviewing sales orders and invoices, supporting accounts receivable activities, ensuring data accuracy, assisting with month-end closing, and providing general accounting support. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and enjoys working collaboratively with multiple departments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review sales orders and sales invoices to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Verify shipping documents, customer purchase orders, pricing information, and billing data.
  • Work closely with Supply Chain, Sales, and Accounting teams to resolve discrepancies.
  • Process and apply customer payments and cash receipts.
  • Monitor accounts receivable activity and customer deductions.
  • Assist with bank account maintenance and monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Prepare AR-related reports and maintain customer master records.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing activities.
  • Assist with general ledger and other accounting functions.
  • Support external audits and accounting projects as assigned.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and operational efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate financial records while ensuring confidentiality and compliance with company policies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of accounting experience.
  • CPA or CPA candidate is a plus.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience using SAP or other ERP systems.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in manufacturing, food manufacturing, consumer goods, or distribution industries.
  • Experience with accounts receivable, billing, cash application, and month-end close.
  • Continuous improvement mindset with the ability to streamline accounting processes.
