Summary

Our client is seeking an experienced Assistant General Manager to support daily restaurant operations and work closely with the General Manager.

This position will oversee restaurant operations, staff management, guest experience, scheduling, cost control, and performance reporting. The ideal candidate has strong leadership experience in fine dining or luxury hospitality and is interested in growing into a General Manager role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the General Manager in overseeing daily restaurant operations
  • Manage opening/closing procedures, floor operations, and guest service
  • Supervise restaurant staff and support scheduling, training, and performance management
  • Handle guest concerns and resolve service issues professionally
  • Support recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and employee development
  • Monitor labor, food, and beverage costs and assist with variance analysis
  • Prepare weekly reports on sales, reservations, and operational performance
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, sanitation, and company standards
  • Lead manager meetings and support operational improvement initiatives
  • Maintain a high level of hospitality and service standards

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of management experience in fine dining, luxury hotels, or hospitality
  • 5+ years of hospitality or restaurant industry experience preferred
  • Experience supervising 10+ employees preferred
  • Experience with restaurant operations and POS systems
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Business-level Japanese required
  • Strong interest in Japanese culture and cuisine is a plus
  • Interest in advancing into a General Manager position

Certifications

  • California Food Manager Certification / ServSafe or equivalent required
  • Valid California Food Handler Card or equivalent certification required
  • Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) Certification preferred
  • Sommelier certification is a plus

Physical & Schedule Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
