A global specialty chemicals manufacturer is seeking a Technical Sales Specialist to support business growth across North America. This role is ideal for a commercially driven sales professional with experience in specialty chemicals, polymers, plastics, additives, or related materials.

The successful candidate will be responsible for expanding existing customer relationships, identifying new business opportunities, and working closely with customers to develop value-driven solutions. While an understanding of polymer applications is beneficial, this position is focused on commercial sales, account management, and business development rather than laboratory or product development work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute sales strategies to grow revenue within assigned markets and customer accounts.
  • Build long-term relationships with customers by understanding their technical and commercial needs and delivering value-added solutions.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, applications, and market segments to expand the company's customer base.
  • Manage the entire sales process, including prospecting, customer visits, quotations, pricing discussions, negotiations, and closing new business.
  • Maintain and grow existing accounts while identifying opportunities for organic growth and cross-selling.
  • Collaborate with technical service, operations, customer service, and product management teams to ensure successful customer support and project execution.
  • Provide regular sales forecasts, market intelligence, competitive analysis, and customer feedback to support business planning.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records, sales activities, customer interactions, and pipeline updates.
  • Represent the company at industry conferences, trade shows, and customer meetings to strengthen market presence and generate new leads.
  • Travel throughout North America to visit customers, develop relationships, and support business growth.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, Business, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in technical sales, account management, business development, or commercial sales within specialty chemicals, plastics, polymers, additives, or related industries.
  • Proven success managing customer accounts and developing new business opportunities.
  • Experience selling to resin manufacturers, compounders, masterbatch producers, plastics processors, converters, or other customers within the polymer value chain is highly preferred.
  • Strong commercial mindset with excellent relationship-building, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to understand customer applications and translate business needs into practical commercial solutions.
  • Experience using CRM systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and comfortable working independently in a remote environment.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 35–40% throughout North America.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience within polymer additives, specialty chemicals, plastics, compounding, or related materials industries.
  • Knowledge of polymer processing, resin manufacturing, or plastics applications.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams in a global organization.
  • Experience working for a Japanese company or collaborating with Japan-based and overseas teams is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Japanese business culture and business practices is highly desirable.
  • Spanish language skills are a plus.

Although the U.S. team is relatively small, the company is part of a growing global organization with a strong international presence. This is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact, work remotely, build long-term customer relationships, and contribute directly to the company's continued growth across North America.
