Location: Plano, TX | Full-Time

Salary Range: $45,000-55,000/year (exempt)

A leading Japanese luxury resale retailer is launching its first U.S. store and is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to join the opening team in Plano, Texas.

The company specializes in the purchase and resale of premium designer fashion, handbags, watches, jewelry, and luxury accessories. This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in the launch of a new retail operation while helping establish an internationally recognized brand in the U.S. market.

Job Summary

The Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in executing daily store operations and ensuring smooth, consistent performance on the sales floor within a resale retail environment specializing in secondhand merchandise. This role serves as an execution-focused leader, responsible for translating store policies, operational standards, and merchandising direction into effective day-to-day action.

The Assistant Store Manager plays a key role in staff supervision, shift coordination, merchandising execution, and customer service. When the Store Manager is absent, this position acts as the Acting Store Manager, making operational decisions within predefined guidelines and escalating important matters as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Store Manager in overseeing daily store operations and sales floor performance
  • Supervise, coach, and provide daily direction to Sales Associates to ensure high standards of customer service and operational execution
  • Conduct on-the-job training (OJT) and support employee development and performance improvement
  • Coordinate daily shift operations, task assignments, and floor coverage
  • Assist with merchandising execution, inventory management, pricing, and product presentation
  • Monitor inventory and backroom organization and coordinate adjustments as needed
  • Handle customer inquiries, returns, and complaint resolution in a professional manner
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, operational procedures, safety standards, and loss prevention practices
  • Serve as the acting store leader and primary decision-maker when the Store Manager is not present
  • Support new store opening activities and contribute to the development of operational best practices

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of retail leadership experience, including supervisory, key holder, team lead, or assistant management responsibilities
  • Experience supervising, coaching, or training retail staff
  • Strong communication, leadership, and customer service skills
  • Experience with merchandising, inventory management, and POS systems
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced retail environment
  • Experience in luxury retail, fashion, resale, thrift, consignment, or related industries preferred
  • Experience with new store openings is a plus
  • Japanese language ability is welcomed but not required
