Job Title: Mold Maintenance
Department: Production
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
SUMMARY: Mold Maintenance Technician maintains plastic injection molds in an efficient manner to ensure that they are in sufficient working order to produce proper products. Modifies designs of molds to produce product desired.
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:
Consults blueprints to maintain molds according to specifications by machining, welding and polishing molds and sends those needing major repairs to vendor for service.
Repairs mold heaters.
Works with hydraulic cylinders.
Routes water lines for mold cooling.
Prepares molds for shipping and receives new molds.
Performs electrical troubleshooting.
Performs troubleshooting and repairs of molds.
Performs inventory tracking of molds and parts used.
Keeps mold repairs within reasonable time limits by determining when use of outside firm is needed.
Manages the projects when molds must be sent to outside firms for repairs.
Maintains flash levels below a rate of 20%.
Qualifications:
Required Education and Experience:
Completion of 2 years of technical school training or 5 years of equivalent experience in a related field such as tool and/or dye making.
Knowledge of:
Basic knowledge of the metric system.
Blueprints and schematics
Basic math and Algebra
Skill in:
Effective Communication
Japanese language skill
Ability to:
Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization
Ability to calculate amounts in percentages and fractions, including multiplication and division of fractions.

Heavy work: Activities will involve frequent standing and walking and communicating verbally and in writing. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Correct visual acuity to 20/20. Physical ability to move body quickly in order to avoid moving mechanical parts and/or heavy machinery.

The work environment is frequently within the manufacturing and distribution plant consisting moving mechanical parts or heavy machinery, vibrations, fumes, unpleasant odors, dust, poor ventilation chemicals, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, and moderate to loud noise while in the plant or travelling for work. Work during evenings and weekends as needed.
