Japanese Translator/Interpreter

Role: Interpreter/Translator – Japanese Bilingual

Location: Murfreesboro, Tennessee

Salary: $60k-$75k (DOE)

Workstyle: On-site | 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM (flexibility for occasional early/late hours)

Position Overview

This is a dynamic, hands-on role within an automotive manufacturing environment, supporting clear and accurate communication between Japanese and English-speaking teams. You’ll serve as a key bridge across Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Administrative departments, ensuring meetings, documentation, and daily operations run smoothly.

The ideal candidate is fully bilingual in Japanese and English with at least 2+ years of professional translation and interpretation experience, preferably within an industrial or manufacturing setting. This role requires professionalism, discretion, and the ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide in-person and virtual interpretation for meetings, discussions, and cross-functional communications
• Translate technical materials such as work instructions, reports, charts, and engineering drawings (Japanese ⇄ English)
• Support phone, video, and in-person communications across time zones
• Assist Japanese expatriate staff with administrative coordination, including relocation support
• Accommodate occasional early morning or evening meetings as needed

Qualifications

• Full fluency in Japanese and English (speaking, reading, and writing)
• 2+ years of professional translation/interpretation experience required
• Experience in automotive or manufacturing environments strongly preferred
• Familiarity with technical and industrial terminology
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• High attention to detail and sound judgment with confidential information
• Ability to multitask and remain composed in a fast-paced setting
• Professional demeanor with strong interpersonal skills
