Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated Construction Field Technician to support the coordination and execution of large-scale industrial construction projects in Phoenix, Arizona. This position works closely with the Site Manager, contractors, engineers, and project teams to ensure construction activities are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project requirements. The successful candidate will assist with daily site operations, monitor construction progress, coordinate materials and resources, and help resolve field-related challenges. This opportunity is well suited for a construction professional who combines hands-on field experience with strong organizational skills and an interest in developing future leadership responsibilities.

What You'll Be Doing

Construction Site Operations & Field Coordination

  • Support daily construction activities, including site preparation, temporary installations, equipment coordination, and resource planning.
  • Coordinate equipment, material deliveries, and construction resources based on project schedules and site priorities.
  • Monitor field activities to ensure work progresses according to approved plans, specifications, and project requirements.
  • Assist the Site Manager in identifying construction challenges and coordinating solutions with contractors, suppliers, and engineering teams.
  • Review site conditions and help address scheduling conflicts, installation issues, and operational constraints.
  • Provide field supervision and direction to subcontractors, craft personnel, and site workers within assigned work areas.

Project Monitoring, Quality & Safety

  • Track construction progress against established schedules and assist with corrective actions when delays or discrepancies arise.
  • Review engineering drawings, P&IDs, BIM models, and other construction documentation to verify installation requirements.
  • Identify potential quality issues, installation discrepancies, and safety concerns during field inspections.
  • Support compliance with applicable safety regulations, client requirements, and site-specific procedures.
  • Maintain accurate construction records, daily field reports, and project progress documentation.
  • Promote safe and organized working conditions while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Project Communication & Reporting

  • Prepare weekly construction progress reports, project updates, and supporting documentation for the Site Manager and other stakeholders.
  • Participate in construction coordination meetings and communicate project updates to relevant teams.
  • Work with contractors, engineers, suppliers, and project management personnel to resolve field-related issues.
  • Escalate concerns involving project schedules, quality, manpower, costs, or safety in a timely manner.
  • Assist with implementing lessons learned and identifying opportunities to improve construction efficiency.
  • Support additional site management and project execution activities as assigned.

What We're Looking For

Professional Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in construction, field supervision, project coordination, installation management, or site execution.
  • Experience supporting industrial, commercial, utility, or infrastructure construction projects.
  • Understanding of construction site operations, contractor coordination, and project scheduling.
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings, engineering documents, and installation requirements.
  • Experience monitoring construction progress, identifying field issues, and supporting corrective actions.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with subcontractors, suppliers, engineers, and project teams.
  • Demonstrated initiative, problem-solving ability, and interest in professional growth and future leadership opportunities.

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical field preferred.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred.
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety or OSHA 510 certification preferred, or willingness to obtain certification after hire.
  • Additional safety certifications such as ASP, CSP, or CHST are valued.
  • Specialized construction safety training, including HAZWOPER, NFPA 70E, Fall Protection, or MEWP, is a plus.

Additional Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Project or similar project scheduling software preferred.
  • Working knowledge of construction management and digital collaboration platforms such as Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), Autodesk Forma, or similar systems.
  • Ability to navigate and interpret engineering drawings, BIM models, and project documentation using tools such as AutoCAD, Navisworks, or Revit. Drafting experience is not required.
  • Familiarity with field reporting systems, look-ahead schedules, construction tracking applications, and mobile site management tools.
  • Strong organizational, documentation, time management, and multitasking abilities.
  • Professional communication skills in English, including reading, writing, and speaking.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, work independently, and adapt to changing project conditions.
