Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist to support construction and engineering activities at a major industrial project in Phoenix, Arizona. This position plays a critical role in maintaining a safe working environment, identifying potential hazards, and ensuring that construction operations comply with applicable safety regulations and project-specific requirements. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience managing construction site safety, working closely with contractors, and implementing practical safety measures in a fast-paced industrial environment.

What You'll Be Doing

Construction Site Safety & Risk Management

  • Perform routine site inspections, identify potential hazards, and recommend preventive or corrective measures.
  • Evaluate construction activities and working conditions to ensure compliance with OSHA standards and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Coordinate site safety arrangements, including protective equipment, temporary facilities, and other safety-related resources.
  • Work with contractors and project personnel to maintain safe operations throughout each phase of construction.

Safety Compliance & Incident Management

  • Monitor adherence to established safety procedures and customer-specific requirements.
  • Investigate workplace incidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions, documenting findings and recommending corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate safety records, inspection reports, and incident documentation.
  • Escalate safety concerns to management and provide recommendations for resolving identified risks.

Training & Project Coordination

  • Deliver safety guidance and training to employees, contractors, and other site personnel.
  • Participate in project coordination meetings to review safety concerns and upcoming construction activities.
  • Collaborate with construction management teams to address safety issues that may affect project execution.
  • Support the collection and organization of contractor safety documentation.
  • Assist with additional EHS initiatives and related responsibilities as assigned.

What We're Looking For

Professional Experience

  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in environmental, health, and safety functions.
  • Practical knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety requirements.
  • Experience conducting site inspections, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
  • Familiarity with safety procedures in construction, engineering, or industrial environments.
  • Ability to coordinate effectively with contractors, project managers, and other stakeholders.

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, engineering, or a related discipline preferred; an equivalent combination of relevant experience and safety certifications will also be considered.
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification.
  • OSHA 510 Certification for the Construction Industry.
  • Additional EHS-related certifications or relevant technical education are valued
