Inside Sales Assistant – Semiconductor Trading

Location: Livonia, MI

Employment Type: Full-Time, Non-Exempt

Compensation: $20–$25/hour, depending on experience

Position Summary

A Japanese-affiliated semiconductor trading company is seeking an Inside Sales Assistant to support sales, customer service, purchasing, and supply chain operations.

This position will work closely with customers, sales team members, suppliers, and warehouses to manage customer orders, forecasts, delivery schedules, and shipping activities. Key customers include Japanese automotive Tier 1 suppliers and industrial manufacturers throughout the U.S. and Mexico.

Key Responsibilities

  • Enter and process customer orders accurately in the company system.
  • Coordinate with the sales team and place purchase orders with suppliers and affiliated companies.
  • Manage customer forecasts and coordinate delivery schedules based on customer requirements and product availability.
  • Maintain and update open orders/backlogs through customer portals and provide shipping notifications.
  • Coordinate shipping instructions with warehouses.
  • Prepare and manage import/export and other shipping-related documentation.
  • Verify order details, shipping information, payment terms, and customer information.
  • Communicate with domestic and overseas suppliers regarding product orders, pricing, specifications, and delivery schedules.
  • Communicate with customers primarily by email and by phone as needed.
  • Support day-to-day sales, customer service, purchasing, and supply chain activities.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of relevant industry experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple orders, schedules, and priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills.
  • Professional English communication skills required.
  • Japanese language skills are a plus, but not required.
  • Previous experience in inside sales, order management, customer service, purchasing, supply chain, semiconductor, electronic components, automotive, or a related field is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
