Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Export Agent to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating international ocean freight shipments from origin to destination. You will work closely with customers, carriers, and internal teams to ensure efficient and timely transportation while maintaining compliance with international shipping regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Shipment Coordination: Arrange and manage ocean export shipments from booking to final delivery, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
  • Documentation Handling: Prepare and review all required export documentation, including bills of lading, commercial invoices, packing lists, and certificates of origin.
  • Customer Service: Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, providing updates, resolving inquiries, and ensuring high levels of service.
  • Carrier & Vendor Communication: Liaise with ocean carriers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and other service providers to coordinate transportation.
  • Compliance & Regulations: Ensure adherence to international shipping regulations, including export compliance, customs documentation, and hazardous materials guidelines (if applicable).
  • Rate Negotiation: Work with carriers and vendors to obtain competitive rates and ensure cost-effective shipping solutions.
  • Tracking & Reporting: Monitor shipment status, proactively address delays, and communicate updates to customers and internal teams.
  • Billing & Invoicing: Review and process invoices, ensuring accuracy in charges and compliance with service agreements.
  • Problem Resolution: Handle exceptions, delays, and claims by coordinating with appropriate stakeholders to resolve issues efficiently.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Experience: 2+ years of experience in ocean freight forwarding, logistics, or international trade.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with INCOTERMS, international shipping regulations, and customs procedures.
  • Skills: Strong organizational and multitasking skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Technology: Proficiency in logistics software, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook), and transportation management systems (TMS).
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a customer service-oriented approach.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; a bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, or a related field is a plus.
  • Certifications: IATA, FIATA, or other industry-related certifications are an advantage.
