Automotive Field Application Engineer (FAE) – Future U.S. Expatriate Assignment
Location: Yokohama, Japan (Initial Training) → Auburn, Alabama, USA (Future Expatriate Assignment)

A global manufacturer specializing in precision electronic components and advanced engineering solutions is seeking an Japanese Bilingual Automotive Field Application Engineer (FAE) to support its growing automotive business in North America.
The company develops advanced connector technologies, automotive electronic components, precision manufacturing solutions, MEMS technologies, and energy-related products. Its products are used by leading automotive and electronics manufacturers worldwide.

As an Automotive Field Application Engineer, you will provide technical support to automotive customers throughout the product development process. You will work closely with customers' engineering teams as well as internal design, manufacturing, and quality departments to identify technical challenges and deliver effective engineering solutions.
This position plays a key role in expanding the company's automotive business in North America.
• Provide technical support to Tier 1 automotive customers during product development.
• Identify customer technical requirements and collaborate with internal engineering teams to develop solutions.
• Coordinate customer projects with engineering, manufacturing, and quality departments.
• Support new business development and customer acquisition.
• Assist with prototype evaluation and mass production launch activities.
• Support product quality improvements and manufacturing implementation.
• Travel to customer locations, primarily in the Detroit area (approximately once every two months).
• Build long-term relationships with Japanese and North American automotive manufacturers and suppliers.
Employment begins in Yokohama, Japan.
Upon successful visa approval, you will relocate to Auburn, Alabama, USA.
Depending on visa timing, several months of technical training in Japan may be required.
Most expatriate assignments last at least one year, with many employees remaining in the U.S. for several years based on business needs.
Required
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or another technical discipline.
• Hands-on experience using SolidWorks or other 3D CAD software.
• Strong technical aptitude and the ability to interpret engineering drawings.
• Business-level English communication skills (approximately TOEIC 700 or equivalent).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Willingness to relocate internationally.
Preferred
• Experience with connectors, electronic components, plastic molded products, or metal components.
• Automotive or automotive supplier industry experience.
• Experience as a Field Application Engineer, Product Engineer, Design Engineer, Technical Sales Engineer, or Customer Engineer.
• Self-motivated with strong problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Interested in working in an international business environment.
• Able to collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, quality, and customer organizations.
