Technical Sales (Industrial Sensor Division)

Location: Remote home office; applicants must reside in the Midwest or East Coast U.S. territory. (Example: Chicago, Detroit, Wisconsin, Ohio, or other industrial markets.)

Compensation: Base salary $80,000 ~ $95,000 DOE + sales incentive commission; no bonus

Hours: Full-time, 9am~5pm

Company Overview

An established industrial sensor manufacturer is seeking a Technical Sales Support / Outside Sales Representative to manage and grow business across the Midwest and East Coast territory. The company provides sensing products used in industrial automation, machinery, equipment, packaging, conveyor systems, and other industrial applications.

Position Summary

This role is responsible for maintaining existing OEM, distributor, and end-user accounts while identifying new project-based opportunities where products can be specified into finished systems. The position works independently from a home office and partners closely with distributors, independent sales representatives, internal sales administration, and technical support teams. Extensive territory travel is required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute quarterly territory sales plans and weekly action plans to meet sales targets
  • Visit OEMs, end users, distributors, and existing customers throughout the assigned territory
  • Identify target markets, project opportunities, and new business prospects
  • Manage and grow national and regional accounts within the territory
  • Support and develop distributor relationships and independent sales representatives
  • Maintain and update customer database and sales activity information
  • Provide basic technical support and solution-based product guidance to customers
  • Work with distribution partners on monthly promotional activities
  • Contribute market feedback, sales forecasts, competitor information, product needs, and growth recommendations
  • Participate in trade shows, marketing initiatives, advertising support, and public relations activities
  • Provide input to corporate teams regarding product feedback and future product development needs
  • Stay current on industry trends, competitive products, and relevant technical knowledge

Qualifications

Required:

  • 5+ years of sales experience in the industrial field
  • Sales experience with industrial sensors
  • Basic electrical or industrial sensor knowledge
  • Experience selling to OEMs, end users, and/or distributor channels
  • Technical, solution-based selling experience, including management-level selling
  • Demonstrated ability to close new business
  • Strong presentation, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently from a remote home office
  • Ability to travel within the assigned territory 50% or more of monthly duties
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural, team-oriented environment
  • English communication skills.

Preferred:

  • Existing network in industrial automation, machinery, equipment, packaging, conveyor, or related industrial markets
  • Experience with industrial sensor manufacturers, distributors, or comparable automation product companies
  • Experience managing distributor and independent sales representative relationships

Other Details

  • Reports to senior U.S. leadership based at the company’s headquarters
  • No direct employee management responsibility
  • Company provided laptop
  • Cell phone expenses are reimbursed
  • Car allowance provided for use of personal vehicle for business travel
  • Sales incentive commission is based on qualifying sales generated by the employee
