Senior Sales Specialist – Packaging Machinery (U.S. Market)

Location: Illinois (preferred) or Remote (U.S.-based)

Compensation: $120,000 – $160,000 base + commission

Commission:

3% on new business revenue

1% on existing/inherited clients within first year

A global  leading provider of advanced packaging machinery solutions in IL with ambitious growth trajectory to double this within the next three years. To achieve this, we are expanding our sales organization and focusing on new client acquisition across the U.S. market.

We are seeking a highly driven Senior Sales Specialist to lead business development efforts and expand our footprint in the U.S. This is a high-impact, individual contributor role focused on acquiring new customers, building strategic relationships, and driving revenue growth.

The ideal candidate is a hunter-type sales professional with deep experience in the packaging machinery industry, a strong network of industry contacts, and a proven ability to win large enterprise accounts.

Key Responsibilities

Identify, target, and develop new business opportunities across the U.S. market

Build and maintain relationships with key decision-makers at mid-sized to large companies

Leverage existing industry connections to accelerate sales cycles and market penetration

Develop and execute strategic sales plans aligned with company growth objectives

Drive direct sales efforts while supporting channel/distributor relationships as needed

Collaborate with engineering, service, and finance teams to ensure successful project delivery

Provide market insights and competitive intelligence to support product strategy

Represent the company at trade shows, industry events, and customer engagements

Manage sales forecasts, pipelines, and reporting for senior leadership

Support post-sales activities and long-term client relationship management

Target Market

Industries: Food, Pharmaceutical, and Consumer Goods manufacturing

Customers: Mid-size to large enterprises (e.g., Fortune 500-level companies)

Focus: U.S.-based companies investing in factory automation

Deal size: ~$500K to $1.5M per machine (typically requiring 50% upfront payment)

Qualifications

Required

Bachelor’s degree in business, Engineering, or related field

10+ years of sales experience in packaging machinery or related industrial equipment

Demonstrated success in acquiring and managing large enterprise accounts

Strong track record in new business development and revenue growth

Established network within the packaging or related industry

Experience with CRM systems and data-driven sales strategies

Preferred

Experience selling into large U.S.-based corporations

Existing client relationships that can be leveraged immediately

Familiarity with end-user industries such as food, pharma, or consumer goods manufacturing

Skills & Competencies

Strong consultative and solution-based selling approach

Ability to translate technical features into business value

Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills

Strategic mindset with hands-on execution capability

High degree of independence, accountability, and professionalism

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce)

Analytical mindset with ability to interpret sales data and trends

Role Structure

Individual contributor role (no people management)
