Job Title: Customer Service Representative
Location: Hasbrouck Heights, NJ
・Temp position (long term, full-time)
・Monday–Friday: 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM
・Hybrid work model (3 days onsite, 2 days remote)
・Pay range: $25 – $27/hour
・English skills required. Japanese skills are preferred.
Summary
The Customer Service Representative (CSR) is accountable for enhancing customer relationships by providing excellent customer service and responding to needs in the most efficient manner while ensuring world-class order fulfillment. The team member serves as a resource to customers, prospects, warehouse, buyers, and outside sales staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Take and process customer orders, provide delivery information, and follow up as required
- Review workload and prioritize work to ensure delivery times, locations, and customer requirements are consistently met
- Become versed and continually pursue knowledge on all manufactured product group(s) as assigned
- Learn to utilize computer systems and programs such as ERP software, Microsoft Office, and email
- Notify supervisor, warehouse, and outside sales staff of customer issues as warranted
- Maintain accurate customer contact records
- Build relationships with customers by maintaining a high level of customer service and providing value-added services such as consumption and inventory reporting
- Create strong professional relationships with assigned accounts
- Coordinate shipment of products (including expedited and third-party freight) with warehouse personnel
- Prepare purchase orders, warehouse releases, invoices, ISO certificates, Certificates of Analysis (COA), export documents, and other records, and review for accuracy
- Assist sales and accounts receivable to ensure customer invoices are paid according to company terms
- Keep records of customer interactions and transactions, including inquiries, complaints, and actions taken
- Organize and maintain filing systems and records
- Monitor inventory data and reconcile with warehouse month-end reports
- Participate in departmental and cross-functional meetings or training as required
- Work closely with operations teams to ensure materials are ordered or transferred as needed
- Manage office supply inventory and place orders as needed
- Screen phone calls and greet guests
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Education and/or Experience
- High school diploma or GED required
- Associate degree in business or related field preferred
- 3–5 years of customer service experience in a corporate or manufacturing environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Shipping/logistics experience is a plus
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to talk or hear
- Frequently required to stand, walk, and sit
- Vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus
Work Environment
- Moderate noise level (typical office environment)
- Ability to work in a confined area
- Ability to sit at a computer for extended periods
Language Skills
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
- Ability to present information in one-on-one and small group settings
- Japanese language is a plus
