GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY
Designs and modifies integrated circuit sockets and components. Provides technical support for Sales and customers. Provides qualify check for assembly and components.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Design
• Designs and modifies IC sockets and components
• Makes drawing changes as needed
• Checks and approves drawings of Engineering Staff
Technical Support
• Provides technical support for Sales as needed
• Provides technical support to customers through phone, email, and on-site work; refers to engineering drawings and customer lab measurements
• Makes recommendations to customers for choosing correct sockets
Quality Assurance
• Researches and provides problem solving, both in-house and to customers
• Provides quality check for assembly and piece part
• Tests and evaluates IC sockets and piece parts
• Evaluates new piece parts from local manufacturers
• Generates corrective action plan and report
• Actively collaborates with global colleagues across company locations
Information Management and Reporting
• Researches, analyzes, and updates technical information database
• Communicates on a regular basis with other departments, management, customers, assigned factory, and freight forwarder. May, at times, share information with external consultants working on behalf of the Company.
• May attend technical conferences make visits to universities and gather information regarding specific industries. Responsible for understanding current market condition, including competitor positioning.
• Plans, coordinates, and prepares both routine and special requested reports, surveys, research information, and presentations related to departmental work activities
• Reports all important business decisions to manager and provides updates as requested. Also, responds to other managers’ requests for information and assistance
Other and Miscellaneous
• Provides technical instruction and recommendations to Engineering Staff as needed
• Plans, prepares, and gives presentations to customers, trade shows, meetings, etc.
• Performs special projects and other miscellaneous duties as assigned by Management
• Reports all irregular issues and problems to supervisor for resolution
• Conducts measurements of parts and customer packages

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering preferred) from a four-year college or university or equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience
• Five years experience in mechanical design in semiconductor industry
• Extensive working knowledge of CAD systems, specifically IDEAS, and Solidworks
• Any previous experience and understanding with Burn-in,Test sockets and Thermal would be valuable
• Working knowledge of general lab equipment
Mental, Physical, and Environmental
• Automobile usage and skills – Must have a valid Driver’s License in state of residence and be able to drive to customer locations
• Eyesight/vision – Requires vision abilities, such as close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
• Lifting ≤ 15 lbs. – Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
• Physical sight – Ability to read and analyze data in hard copy and on a computer screen; ability to measure or identify using eyesight
• Technical analysis – Ability to calculate, apply basic statistics, and write and speak using technical vocabulary
• Telephone communications – Ability to communicate verbally using a telephone
• Travel – Occasional travel is required by both car and airplane; sometimes overnight
• Verbal and written communications – Ability to communicate verbally and in writing to individuals and groups
• Work environment – Work is performed in a typical “white collar” office environment and requires the employee to frequently sit. In addition, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, and reach with hands and arms.
• Work pressure/stress – Ability to handle job stress and work pressure from varying demands on one’s time; ability to manage multiple work projects simultaneously.
