Production / Manufacturing Engineer (P1 / P2) – (Japanese Bilingual)

Hours: Full-time / Exempt (Weekend/holiday work as needed; CTO provided)

The company partners with domestic plants and overseas equipment suppliers to optimize production systems, improve equipment reliability, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.


Position Summary

Seeking a hands-on Production / Manufacturing Engineer to support equipment operations, troubleshooting, and improvement projects across multiple plant locations. This role collaborates with plant teams and overseas suppliers to ensure stable production, minimize downtime, and enhance equipment performance.

Level will be determined based on experience:

  • P1: Entry to junior-level engineer working under senior guidance
  • P2: Mid-level engineer capable of independent technical responsibility

Key Responsibilities

Production Equipment Support

  • Troubleshoot production equipment issues (mechanical/electrical)
  • Read and interpret electrical/mechanical drawings and PLC programs
  • Perform equipment adjustments and quality verification
  • Utilize IoT data to reduce downtime

Production Preparation

  • Collect and review technical specifications from plant teams/customers
  • Coordinate with overseas equipment suppliers
  • Analyze technical documentation for feasibility and readiness

Equipment Improvement & Modification

  • Support equipment upgrades, installation, relocation, and modifications
  • Collaborate with maintenance teams on mechanical/electrical adjustments
  • Coordinate contractors as needed (P2 level)

Documentation & Communication

  • Complete quality confirmation records and technical documentation
  • Translate/interpret technical materials (Japanese/English)
  • Provide technical guidance to maintenance teams

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering field
  • Japanese language proficiency (JLPT N2 or higher)
  • Foundational knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems
  • Ability to travel 50%+ (including occasional extended travel up to one month)
  • On-call availability (approx. once/month or less)
  • Ability to work weekends/holidays as required (CTO provided)

Preferred:

  • PLC/HMI programming & troubleshooting (Mitsubishi preferred)
  • Robot programming (Fanuc preferred)
  • FA component troubleshooting
  • CAD experience (AutoCAD preferred)
  • Hands-on production equipment experience

Level Guidelines

P1:

  • New graduate to <3 years relevant experience
  • Works under senior engineer supervision

P2:

  • 3+ years relevant experience
  • Independently handles complex troubleshooting
