Position Summary

Our client, a Japanese company is seeking a Licensed Customs Broker. This role will oversee customs clearance operations and compliance for the branch’s import department, working closely with logistics, operations, and government agencies. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, customer-focused, and experienced in handling end-to-end customs brokerage activities in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

Customs Clearance & Compliance

  • Handle all aspects of customs clearance, including entry writing and operational support
  • Prepare, submit, and manage entries with U.S. Customs and other government agencies
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. Customs regulations, federal requirements, and agency filings (CBP, FDA, USDA, Fish & Wildlife, etc.)
  • Classify invoices accurately and clear shipments, including RLF processing
  • Oversee compliance matters for the branch’s import department

Operations & Coordination

  • Work closely with Logistics and Operations teams to resolve shipment and clearance issues
  • Coordinate with U.S. Customs and other government agencies as required
  • Support air and ocean import freight release activities
  • Assist with billing accuracy and resolve logistical problems efficiently

Systems, Reporting & Supervision

  • Utilize ABI systems and maintain accurate electronic records
  • Support ISO-related processes (preferred)
  • Provide supervisory support when applicable
  • Contribute to business growth by identifying and securing new freight-related opportunities
  • Monitor local market trends and support revenue and sales goals

Qualifications

  • Active U.S. Customs Broker License (Required)
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Experience with international freight forwarding strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of U.S. Customs Tariff and government agency filing requirements (FDA, USDA, Fish & Wildlife, etc.)
  • Experience with air and ocean import freight release
  • Proficiency with ABI systems and general computer literacy
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Detail-oriented, customer-focused, and able to work well under pressure
  • Ability to multitask, manage billing accurately, and resolve logistical issues
  • Prior experience in Customer Service or Operations within international transportation (2+ years preferred)
  • Supervisory experience and ISO knowledge are a plus
