Overview

A U.S.-based company with global operations is seeking an experienced SAP Application Lead to support an ongoing SAP S/4HANA implementation and serve as the primary operational owner after go-live. This role leads IT-related workstreams, collaborates closely with external vendors and internal stakeholders, and ensures stable, compliant operation of SAP and related systems. The position offers a balance of hands-on system operations, project coordination, vendor management, and long-term system ownership.


Key Responsibilities

SAP Implementation & Project Support

  • Lead IT-related coordination and workstreams during the SAP S/4HANA implementation
  • Collaborate with external partners and internal users to manage system activities
  • Support project coordination tasks including documentation, follow-up actions, and stakeholder communication

Application Operations

  • Serve as the primary operational lead for SAP S/4HANA (SD/MM/FI/CO coordination level)
  • Manage IBP planning cycles, scheduled jobs, and basic master data synchronization
  • Monitor EDI/IDoc workflows and perform initial troubleshooting prior to vendor escalation
  • Coordinate RPA bot operations, updates, and issue resolution with automation vendors

Change Management & Controls

  • Manage issue triage, enhancements, testing, and application changes
  • Maintain SOPs, operational documentation, and application runbooks
  • Lead IT General Controls (ITGC) activities including access reviews and change management coordination
  • Prepare documentation for SOX / J-SOX audits

Vendor & Budget Management

  • Manage relationships with IT vendors and review service deliverables
  • Track IT spending, review vendor invoices, and support the annual IT budget process

Minimum Qualifications

  • 3–6 years of experience supporting SAP ERP (ECC and/or S/4HANA)
  • Solid understanding of SAP SD, MM, or FI/CO business processes
  • Hands-on experience participating in SAP implementation projects
  • Experience coordinating IT projects, system enhancements, and vendor management

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with SOX / J-SOX IT General Controls
  • Experience working in multi-system, integrated environments
  • Exposure to EDI/IDoc, IBP, and/or RPA systems
  • Japanese language skills
