Company Overview<\/p>\n

A global industrial technology company\u2019s Silicon Valley R&D organization develops and evaluates next-generation technologies for industrial and building automation. The team works with global R&D groups, universities, startups, and technology partners to identify and validate technologies with future commercial applications.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Position Summary<\/p>\n

This is a hands-on, software-focused R&D engineering role responsible for developing prototypes, evaluating technologies and external libraries, and validating concepts rather than developing finished commercial products.<\/p>\n

The ideal candidate has approximately 5+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment, strong Python\/software development skills, and working knowledge of either electrical engineering or control engineering.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Key Responsibilities<\/p>\n

– Develop Python-based software and prototypes for automation and R&D applications.<\/p>\n

– Design and evaluate proof-of-concept solutions and external software\/library technologies.<\/p>\n

– Integrate and evaluate sensors, controllers, communication systems, and data acquisition technologies.<\/p>\n

– Develop or evaluate control algorithms, system models, and simulations.<\/p>\n

– Assess emerging technologies including AI\/ML, Industrial IoT, digital twins, advanced sensing, and intelligent automation.<\/p>\n

– Conduct technical evaluations of startup, academic, and external technologies.<\/p>\n

– Support building automation, energy management, industrial control, and related technology projects.<\/p>\n

– Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineers and global\/external R&D partners.<\/p>\n

– Document technical findings and present recommendations to technical and management stakeholders.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Qualifications<\/p>\n

Required:<\/p>\n

– Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.<\/p>\n

– Approximately 5+ years of software\/engineering experience within manufacturing, industrial technology, automation, or a related environment.<\/p>\n

– Strong Python programming\/software development skills.<\/p>\n

– Practical knowledge of electrical engineering or control engineering gained through professional experience.<\/p>\n

– Experience developing prototypes, proof-of-concepts, or evaluating technologies.<\/p>\n

– Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.<\/p>\n

– Ability to commute regularly to the Campbell office.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Preferred:<\/p>\n

– Experience with industrial\/building automation, process control, embedded systems, modeling, or simulation.<\/p>\n

– Experience with AI\/ML, Industrial IoT, digital twins, sensors, or smart building technologies.<\/p>\n

– Experience evaluating external libraries, emerging technologies, startups, or research projects.<\/p>\n

– Master's degree in a relevant technical field.<\/p>\n

Other Details<\/p>\n

Reports to the R&D Director with no direct reports. The local R&D organization includes approximately 7 hands-on engineers working in small, flat project teams.<\/p>\n

Travel is approximately 10\u201320%, primarily within the U.S., with potential opportunities to visit Japan for technical collaboration. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, and 401(k). Interview process consists of approximately 2\u20133 rounds.<\/p>\n

Must be currently authorized to work in the United States. No visa sponsorship is available for this role. Relocation assistance is not available.<\/p>\n
