Position Summary<\/h2>\n

A Japanese company is seeking a reliable Japanese-English bilingual interpreter to provide language and family support services for Japanese expatriate families. This position is on an as-needed basis and is ideal for individuals seeking flexible work opportunities.<\/p>\n

Support needs vary throughout the year. Some months may require little or no support, while others may involve multiple assignments. Candidates should be comfortable with a flexible and on-call work arrangement.<\/p>\n

Job Responsibilities<\/h2>\n
    \n
  • Provide Japanese-English interpretation during medical appointments<\/li>\n
  • Accompany expatriate family members to hospitals, clinics, schools, and other appointments<\/li>\n
  • Assist with communication between families and healthcare providers, school personnel, and local organizations<\/li>\n
  • Support newly arrived expatriate families as they navigate daily life in the United States<\/li>\n
  • Respond to urgent support requests when available<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Qualifications<\/h2>\n
      \n
    • Business-level fluency in both Japanese and English (spoken and written)<\/li>\n
    • Valid driver's license <\/li>\n
    • Ability to travel within the Springfield and Dayton area<\/li>\n
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills<\/li>\n
    • Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality<\/li>\n
    • Flexible schedule and willingness to accept assignments on short notice when possible<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Preferred Qualifications<\/h2>\n
        \n
      • Previous interpreting or translation experience<\/li>\n
      • Experience supporting Japanese expatriates, international families, or multicultural communities<\/li>\n
      • Medical or educational interpreting experience is a plus<\/li>\n
